DVD Tuesday: Cloverfield, Here at Last!
Crashing into video stores and retailers around the country today is the long-awaited and much anticipated DVD release of the sci-fi blockbuster "Cloverfield." Chock full of extras and behind the scenes footage, this DVD is a must-have for any "Cloverfield" fan or for anyone who didn't see the movie in theaters back in January. Select retailers are also giving out some really cool extras. Suncoast & FYE are giving out limited edition, steel book collectible packaging. Best Buy is giving a Bonus Disc entitled "TJ Miller's Video Diary," containing almost 30 minutes of exclusive behind-the-scenes footage with "Hud," Kart & Sears are both providing a free Cloverfield Ringtone. (Wow! Get over now before they run out... seriously?) And my favorite store, Target, gives you the Target Deluxe Edition including "Rob's Goin' To Japan Party Mix" music CD... nice. Hurry, before they all run out!

Otherwise, on a more serious note, if you can call this movie serious, the other big movie out on DVD today is "Charlie Wilson's War" starring the wonderful talents of Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts and Philip Seymour Hoffman. This trio delivers some of the finest performances in their careers! Great story, good dialogue and fine directing by veteran director Mike Nichols makes this movie a perfect one to see! You know, something to watch and then discuss with friends over lattes.

My other pick for movies to watch this week on DVD is "The Orphanage" presented by the uber-talented Guillermo Del Toro. This hauntingly delicious movie will have you at the edge of your seat! So watch it with the lights out and with someone you can scare.

Also out today is the street fighting, martial arts epic "Flash Point." The film follows an intense detective who after years of painstaking pursuit closes in on his archenemies, a merciless gang of three brothers. With the arrest of one of the brothers, witnesses suddenly start dying and evidence is destroyed. When his undercover partner is exposed and becomes a target, he goes after the brothers directly – no holds barred. Breaking Hong Kong box office records last year with its high-energy action sequences and fierce kung fu clashes, "Flash Point," explodes on to DVD today!
